• Basically, if your site is huge (say, over 50,000) pages, you’re best having more than one. The basic purpose of a XML sitemap is to help Google to find your key content more easily. But in this guide i will use Yoast SEO plugin to create XML Sitemap for website.

Create a Sitemap using Yoast SEO plugin

• Go to Yoast SEO ➢ XML Sitemap

General Menu

• You can see a complete General menu which you want to configure,

1. Check the box to enable XML sitemap.
2. Max entries per sitemap by default it is 1000 but you can maximize or decrease as per your need .

User Sitmap

• User sitemap, in this you can only check box if you don’t want your author /users in the XML sitemap.

Post Type

• Post type , In this you can choose which type of material you want into your XML sitemap like Post, page , Media.

➢ You can check only those boxes which you don’t want in your XML Sitemap.

Taxonomies

• Taxonomies , in this you can select those opt. which you do not want to see in your XML Sitemap.

 when you done all these things then click save changes. • Go to General menu ➢ click on XML sitemap to check whether your XML sitemap is created or not,If you see a complete page of your website post, media, article in that page then XML is created , if you not see any things then check your setting again.

How to Submit XML Sitemap to Google

When you create XML sitemap then it’s time to submit your sitemap to google Webmaster tools.
• Login to Google Webmaster Tools . If you not submit your website in Google website Tools then click this link .
• Click on your website ➢ Crawl ➢ Sitemap

• Click ‘ADD/TEST SITEMAP’ and you’ll see a popup like this.

➢You can now paste in the URL of your sitemap(s), and your work is done.
